It’s Play Time!

My childhood activities consisted of playing hopscotch, jumping rope, kicking ball, and dressing-up Midge (Barbie’s cousin). The mere mention of such play brings back good memories for me. Oh, the hours of fun, fighting, and friendship. As a child, these activities enhanced my coordination, exercised my body, and developed my imagination.

So, the question I ask is why not do child’s play as an adult?

I’m thinking stores that sell office items are onto this very idea. There are actually desk toys! Here’s some that I’ve noted: paperweights that spin to provide an answer, a mini Casino, mini golf green, and mini beach spot (complete with sand and a beach chair), and other trinkets to play with during a stressful day at work.

Most adulthood activities consist of checking (emails), paying (bills), and driving (around). Though necessary, this type of play isn’t going to provide the Dose any fun or get her fit. With that said, I’ve incorporated some child-like activities—such as rollerblading, playing in dirt (aka gardening), and doing arts and crafts—into my daily life…doing so will exercise my body, feed my soul, and calm my spirit.

Go play, and don’t forget to get some desk toys!
