Mind-SET

We set the table in preparation for a meal.

We set a clock to display the time.

We set the oven temperature in order to bake.

Settings are important for our expectations as well. Having proper expectations of an event and, more importantly, of others is critical. Without setting realistic expectations, disappointment is guaranteed.

Non-dog lovers aren’t going to enjoy your new puppy.

People who don’t enjoy sweets aren’t going to appreciate your home-baked cake.

A blind person can’t tell you that you look good.

As the Dose listens to the frustrations of others, I’ve taken note that they are often expecting something that will never happen. Folks who know the Dose know well that I’m not quite sure how to interact with youngsters. So expecting me to babysit, or be totally engaged in children’s play would be a bit… well, ridiculous. You would be let down and I’d be clueless of the significance of your disappointment.

Some expectations are obvious, others need to be unveiled… whatever the case, set the mind and proceed accordingly!
