Time for Sorbet

Who doesn’t love going to a fancy restaurant? The lovely ambiance, the over-the-top service, the delectable food, and not to mention the chic restrooms. Recently I enjoyed such an experience. Interesting that it was the sorbet served between courses that struck a chord with me. It made me think: should we not have “sorbet” between the “courses” of our lives?

As I think about my journey, I note that the different “courses” of my life – whether it’s a change in jobs or the transition between one decade and the next – have often been separated with a “sorbet.” I have taken a week vacation when changing jobs. I marked my 30th, 40th, and 50th birthdays by celebrating in “Dose-style.” And, when I didn’t “sorbet” between significant relationships, the next relationship suffered. These two courses became one and the same…namely, trouble!

As the restaurant prepares the fancy dish of sorbet to refresh our palates, we need to plan our life sorbet. Is there a transition period coming up in your life? Make certain to enjoy the next course by having sorbet.
