Influencing Partnerships

Look at couples who have been married for a long time. Take a closer look. Do you see what I see? Married couples, over time, start looking like each other. Quite fascinating, wouldn’t you say?

As I enjoy watching human behavior, starting with my own, the Dose sees something that goes beyond the appearance of these married couples. They mirror each other’s behaviors, mannerisms, and choice of spoken words to perfection. Amazing. But not miraculous. It makes total sense… you are who you hang out with.

Being in the corporate world, the Dose can’t hold back speaking the lingo of the office. Same holds true with those I keep company with. If the friend I spend the day with enjoys the creative arts, we visit museums or shoot photos. For those who enjoy volunteering… it’s off to participate in a worthy cause. As for those who are fitness aficionados… well, the Dose should be connecting with them more often!

My mix of interests does lead to an assortment of friends with mutual influence and alignment of values.

Unfortunately, this was not true in my younger years. Despite my mother’s best efforts, the Dose did ‘sneak’ around with those that persuaded me down paths of, let’s just say, no-good.

Who you hang out with does more than keep you company. They have the influence to grow you or distort you… choose wisely!
