Love is blind… Could hate be deaf?

Growing up, I lived on a street lined with child-filled houses.

We were a mix of boys, girls, and a few dogs that just liked having fun. It was amazing how we all got along.

One day, naughty little Harry decided to do something mischievous that affected me. Though I do not recall the specifics, I remember it being bad enough for my mom to speak with his parents!

Unfortunately, this conversation didn’t end to my mother’s liking. You see, Harry was beloved by his parents so much so that the ills of this child were not seen to them! Yes. Love. Is. Blind.

This of course got me thinking about the effects of people I have a propensity to not really care for… people I dislike.  Usually, they get dismissed by me as a deafness sets in.

Regardless of the synonyms for the word hate, this feeling – sometimes visceral in nature – can lead to deafness… just like being blinded by love.

These two opposite ends of the feeling spectrum – when expressed to the extremes – need to be tempered… otherwise we, including me, will miss out on seeing and hearing the whole truth!
