My childhood neighborhood was a cul-de-sac that contained more children than adults.
Most of the adults had children… those who didn’t, well, they didn’t seem to understand childish behaviors.
One such behavior – a la 1960’s – was the sticking-out-of-the-tongue at another person. A pure sign of disrespect, disdain, and distaste!
Needless to say, Little Dose had this bad behavior that led to one adult notifying the local police, the neighborhood woman who felt compelled to teach me a lesson.
What did I do when the cop car showed up on my street? I ran away. Yes. Ran to hide from authorities!
I don’t recall what happened after the escape, but I’m thinking the cops drove their car out of the ‘sac’ without the need to search for me, considering the nature of the incident.
The fact that I kept this event in my memory for so long speaks volumes, as it apparently taught me life-long lessons.
And here they are:
- Don’t provoke the sleeping lion
- Stay clear of expressing ill thoughts if not requested
- End the story by staying put… running away is not endorsed!
If only those cops spent the time to catch me and reprimand me, my bad habit may not have continued!
