A Smart Cookie

The small piece of paper tucked inside the partly folded cookie read, “Our truest life is when we are in our dreams awake.”

The Dose enjoys fortune cookies for the cookie of it. To me, the fortune itself is only read aloud to appease the family and friends at the table. 

But what was stated in this particular cookie was not only read out loud, it was saved and tucked inside a different crevice – a page in a book – only to be found years later and pondered once again. 

We hear the phrase “Living the dream” when things are going well. And “In my dreams” when we relate a situation so good we can’t fathom it in real life. 

But what if we could really live the life of our dreams… live our dreams while awake? What would that look like? 

For the Dose, it’s a life that reflects my values, passions, and expertise. Simply stated, it’s living out what is inside of me… integrity, relationships, and creativity.
