Nourishment for the Noodle

People believe in posting affirmations around their living space – house, car, office. Not a bad idea, as it makes sense to have positive sayings within our eyesight. These affirmations have a way of feeding the mind.

So it is with lyrics.

Music is powerful. It brings us enjoyment, whether humming with the notes, dancing to the beat, or belting out the words to a song. Basically, music has the ability to affect our spirit and ultimately our mood…for good or for bad.

As a lover of Gospel music and my generation’s classics – the Beatles, all things Motown, JT* and Carly – I have noted that their soulful lyrics play in my mind long after the song has ended.

You know how that is – we watch the Sound of Music movie and the lyrics to My Favorite Things are on repeat in our heads over the next few days! And it is those instructive lyrics that are feeding our minds.

Feeding your mind with positive affirmations is a good thing that comes in many forms… including the lyrics of the songs we listen to.

Songs. Though you play them… they can unknowingly play you!
