A Day for Mothers…and Others

Some things, places, and events remind us of others…wouldn’t you say? Hold an object once owned by a loved one and you can’t help but think of them. Every time I go to Symphony Hall in Boston to listen to classical music or to enjoy an evening at the Pops… I think of my Dad.

Sometimes it’s people, not objects, that remind us of others. Though I never thought I could find someone to remind me of my mother, I did… it’s Mrs. M. A woman packed with energy, full of encouragement, and bursting with enjoyment for life!  That was my mother and this is my friend, Mrs. M.

My mother was 62 when she passed away, I was 29; too young and too soon for us both. Although no one could ever take the place of my mom, women of influence have weaved in and out of my life… two who remain are my sisters.

As I’ve observed many a Mother’s Day without my mother’s physical presence, the Dose continues to celebrate my mother by honoring her by my way of living… and I do acknowledge those “older” women who have picked up the baton and influenced me in motherly ways.

Happy Mother’s Day!
