London – known for news, money, and law. This city is also associated with the monarchy, high tea, and Harrods. And with all that London has to offer tourists, the top question asked upon my return was, “What did you buy?”
Buy? Wait, the Dose needs to tell you about the experience… not the shopping!
My father’s mantra was “go travel… go learn.” He was right. Traveling is an education and with every trip I’ve taken the Dose has come back with more than a shopping bag.
Seeing how the “foreigners” live, learning the history of the location, or enjoying local activities makes the visit more special than any shopping trip. Over the years of going places, I find myself talking about the experiences, thumbing through the photos and brochures, and preparing meals related to my various travels. Trips have certainly given me knowledge and good conversation.
As for shopping…oh, yes, the Dose usually brings back a unique purchase reflecting the visit.
