The Dose has had the opportunity to visit many countries and 5 continents. My choice of travel has typically been aimed at discovering culturally different locations.
When I go to such places, my intention is to mirror the culture as best as possible.
Dinner at 9 pm in Spain – I can do that.
Attend folk dances in parts of Europe – I’m in for that.
Visit local art museums – this is one of my many reasons to go!
The last thing I want do is live life there as I do at home.
Go to bed early – NO.
Call my friends for a chit chat – NO.
Eat a paleo diet, spend on a budget, and constantly be thinking – NO. NO. NO!
My Dad taught me that to travel was to learn. And he was right.
Experiencing different cultures provides an important perspective: how diverse the world is and how doing life one way is only one of many ways!
I appreciate how others live. In some instances I see the blessings of my life, and in others I take note of ways that I can live differently.
Whether in person or remotely, learning a different culture is enriching… for your life, your mind, your spirit!
