Ghost in My Machine

The new iPhone is complete with an intelligent personal assistant named Siri. Upon your command, Siri will set the alarm, send a text, or dial a number. She also verbally responds when you ask a question or make a statement… responses include  “I live to serve,” “I aim to please,” and my all time favorite, “I’m incapable of worry.”

Incapable of worry… Siri, the Dose so wants this attribute! Imagine never worrying about, well, you name it. As I play that imagine game, my shoulders stop shrugging, and my body relaxes. With worries pushed aside, the Dose can’t help but think better thoughts – more productive thoughts – definitely happier thoughts.

Over the decades of having something to worry about pretty much every day of my life, I’m taking on Siri’s being. Though I’m not wired like her, I can manually reprogram my thought center when heading down the path of worry. And for times when I can’t, the Dose can have Siri set the timer, reminding me to limit my worry time so that I can continue being human but not considered a worrywart.

Siri, unlike you, I am capable of worrying, but thanks to you I won’t let worry make me incapable of living!
