It was back in the 1980’s that the Dose went on a business trip to Wyoming. The kind gentleman who was picking me up from the airport was in charge of my dinner plans.
I was happy about this as, with plane delays and bad weather, I was too tired and hungry to process what was for dinner… “Take me to food,” was all I could think!
He decided, knowing that I was from Boston, to take me to a restaurant that served what he determined as the best shrimp!
Unfortunately, I was too tired and not travel savvy enough to know that this Wyoming shrimp dish was not the best choice for this girl who was accustomed to ocean fresh food.
Choosing the local fare of chicken fried steak, elk, or venison would have given me a unique experience and a more memorable meal!
Times have changed since then, and now these foods are available wherever-ish!
Yet there is nothing like eating the authentic classics of the area, prepared in their own special way, in a location complete with the local’s décor, accent, and charm!
Venture out… and remember to eat where and what the locals eat!
