Rest up not on

Whether we list them on our resumes, hang up the diplomas, or place the trophies on the mantel, many of us want to “display” our accomplishments. Why not, when we have something to be proud of. Trouble starts, however, when we rely on our historical successes to achieve in our current affairs.  Laurels are not foot stools!

Having had a handful of jobs, the Dose quickly learned that I needed to re-prove myself with each new boss. Telling them my gold-star history at my previous jobs was meaningless, ineffective, and downright foolish. These new bosses needed to see and experience the effects of the Dose in real life action…words on a resume are just that.

It’s good to have success stories and it’s wonderful to have achievements, accomplishments, awards, and the like. Though the past can’t be pasted into the future, it sure can motivate us to create more.

Resting on our laurels is as supportive as standing on quick sand. In life, it’s best to rest up not on as you’re going to need energy to prove yourself over and over and over and over!
