Today’s “dose” is dedicated to my mother, Sarah. She died 24 years ago on February 9th….missing her 63rd Birthday by 11 days.
Sarah Goolkasian, one remarkable woman who remains my role model. She taught me so much about life, love, and living. One significant lesson she demonstrated was to persevere through the valley times and celebrate the mountain-top experiences.
Her way of dealing with the valley times was to put things into perspective, persevere, and know that everything happens for a reason. Sarah was a woman of faith.
My mother also knew that happy times were not always to be everyday events, so when there was a reason to celebrate…she created a party. Her parties ran the gamut – from a buffet of Middle Eastern foods and a houseful of people, to me and her playing cards at the kitchen table with a one-pound bag of black licorice!
Now you know how it is that the Dose can find fun and laugh at the simple things, stay afloat during challenging times, and provide encouragement to others along the way.
The best way I know how to honor my mother is by exemplifying her good qualities…I challenge you do to the same.
