As the last of the three influential women passed away, I started to reflect on the impact their lives had on me.
My mother was number 1, who died in 1987. She gave me the necessary foundation of morals and values so that I could live well. Love.
Number 2 in the lineup was Mrs. M, who died in 2020. She was a mother figure who embraced me and encouraged me especially during my year-long season of unemployment. Empathy.
And lastly was Carol, who died in 2024. This woman rescued me and housed me during a very difficult season in my life. Kindness.
All three were life giving and lifesaving… each with a different twist!
Now without these women the Dose pondered… who is next in my life? What older woman can I continue to learn from, engage with, and glean from?
And then it hit me. These three provided me what I needed, and now it was time for me to be one of those women to others.
It is a form of them passing the baton to me, to give to others what they gave me.
Don’t underestimate your influence… it just may be life giving and, for some, lifesaving!
