Let me be up front about something—the Dose is not a big fan of rodents. So, typing out the name of one of this species (note title) is disturbing to me. Yet, this message needs to be shared.
I’ve heard people referred to as smart, intelligent, brilliant, and/or well-educated. The well-educated refers to those with multiple letters following their last names.
What do I think of all this?
I’ll refer to my grandmother’s saying, “A mouse goes to college and comes out as the same mouse.”
Basically, she was providing a message that, just because someone goes to a college—even an Ivy League institution—it doesn’t mean they are wise or savvy in life.
Some folks I know without a college degree seem to have more common sense guiding them to make better, wiser decisions than a scrolled parchment paper can provide.
Don’t get me wrong, as one who has two degrees, they are not flaunted. In fact, they are close to never mentioned. Why? Because those two degrees don’t define me and they don’t guarantee me any smarts, intelligence, or brilliance.
That mouse that goes to college and comes out… he’s had an experience and that is just about it!
