The Head-Shoe Connection

Flip Flops
Wing Tips
Loafers
Black Pumps
Sneakers

Let’s face it, these shoes are associated with specific articles of clothing.

Flip Flops…. T-shirt and shorts
Wing Tips…. Coat, tie, and slacks
Loafers… Button-down white shirt and khakis
Black Pumps… Talbot’s classic ladies’ suit
Sneakers…. Sweat pants and oversized sweatshirt

Flip flops and their associated “dress” are made for the beach and other causal summer activity. With their openness and minimal restraints, the design of these shoes says “relax.” If worn to the office, your feet may be comfy but your head could be basking in the virtual sun instead of focusing on the job at hand.

During my five years with a home office job, most thought this was my opportunity to wear pj’s and slippers on conference calls. Not the Dose. On those home office days I would dress in office apparel… right down to the shoes. This complete outfit got my head adjusted for the intense tasks at hand.

Before you start the day, know where you are “heading” and make certain your entire attire, shoes included, are aligned for the day’s activities… your feet may do the walking but your shoes just may direct your mind elsewhere.
