When I was growing up, mother required many things from the Dose… doing chores, practicing table manners and, my least favorite, saying, “I’m sorry” when necessary. That last activity took much coaching from Mom. Today, my conscience illuminates my Mother’s teachings… there’s a clear cycle of life with the act of apologizing.
Opening Act
The act of apologizing starts with me even if I’m not 100% to blame.
Act 2
Once my conscience has identified the target – the person negatively affected by the Dose – the confession is made. Whether I convey, “I’m sorry” or “Forgive me,” these short communication points provide a verbal hug or handshake.
Grand Finale
The moment those words are sincerely stated, the act of apologizing comes back to me as my conscience provides the Dose more tranquility than any drug could provide… quite the addiction-provoking action!
Apologizing does come full circle…as does not apologizing. The only difference is the final act isn’t so grand.
Take center stage – fess up – then bow.
