The List of All Lists

I’m thinking most people create lists of some sort. Could be a grocery list, a to-do list, or a list of travel essentials to bring on a trip.

The Dose loves lists… especially those that reflect my productivity.

Lately I have incorporated another – yet very different – type of list in my life. A “Done-It” list that documents my great decisions made on a daily basis.

What great decisions have I been making?

One great decision, which is on repeat, is to immediately do the things that take minutes to accomplish. Why list it when the chore could be done before I pick up that “pen and paper”!

I have also been making better decisions about what is important to me… namely, cultivating relationships, professional growth, and taking appropriate care of self. Without this intentionality, I can flounder in many decisions.

Through my documentation efforts, I’m noting that better habits are being developed, relationships are stronger, and skills for my work are being fostered. Not to mention that self-care is on the rise!

Lists can give us a sense of organization and accomplishment.

Yet this “Done-It” list, what I now call the List of All Lists, provides much more… it’s the list that prepares you for the future you!

  1. Words of wisdom! Lists can usually create jobs that will be well done. One problem may be getting started!! That can be a problem for me sometimes..

  2. Jean – my list habit was born at my workplace. Now I see the value – for starters, the list is my external drive (meaning second brain)! 😉
