In our country, we have the opportunity to enjoy things and experiences, all seemingly for free!
We have beautiful parks, beaches, and mountains to enjoy. Cities and towns provide their residents with baseball fields, playgrounds, and outdoor skating rinks.
Shops provide women with beauty samples. And Costco generously serves up samples of tasty morsels!
Nothing inherently wrong with free. But is free valued?
My favorite “free” is the public library. Many old town and city libraries are within beautiful buildings rich in architecture. They house some historical books and documents and provide a quiet space to read, browse, and nap!
For the Dose, I appreciate the books, movies, and music… all available for the asking. And seemingly free!
The value of my rentals was specifically realized on two occasions – the time the Dose had to pay full price to replace the library book I dropped in the ocean (!) and, more recently, the time when the library slip specifically noted the value of the books I had checked out!
Free isn’t really free… there is a cost. And though you may not be the one paying the price… honor those who do by appreciating its value.

This is definitely food for thought! The last paragraph sums it up!
