Healthy fears keep us from racing across a busy street.
As for the unhealthy fears, the Dose is convinced that most of these fears stem from people – whether it be from us or others.
As I got ready for my all-important colon cancer screening test, I received many commentaries, particularly on the horror of the “prep” day! These commentaries came from well-meaning folks. Yet for 24 hours I was struck with trepidation and ready to back out.
Long story short, my test was negative, and I was given a clean bill of health (in the colon department). If I had acted upon what I heard and canceled the appointment, I would have missed out on this good ending. And, may I say, nothing was truly horrible about this whole event.
I want to believe that people have no malintent in their talk. Though many times, fearful folks have a way of passing on their fears to others. As I can’t stop others from sharing their experiences, I can look to the source and screen accordingly.
To fear or not to fear… the choice is yours!

This Dose is spot on regarding the ongoing comments about “prep.” Well meaning but not particularly useful if someone is on the fence. This procedure is critical for long-term health. Women are better at paying attention to preventative care…men less so, but it has to change.
Thanks for the Dose PSA.
To health.
As my mother use to say – in the scope of life, this one day is nothing! 😉
