When the metaphorical red flag is waved… you know it’s synonymous with the famous words: “Danger, Will Robinson, Danger!”
We all have experienced that “red flag.” The caller IDed as spam. The advertisement for a product that promises you what is close to a miracle—and at a two-for-one price. Or the mailing that informs you of a prize you won… despite never having entered the contest.
Those can be considered as pink flags… as real red flags usually come with a high cost—both tangible and intangible.
The most notable red flag the Dose ever experienced was the time I fostered a business agreement with a person most unlike myself. I saw the red flag loud and clear, and so did a family member who expressed their concern. Unfortunately, their guidance was dismissed, as was my gut instinct, ultimately allowing my selfish nature to take over.
Years into the investment, I chose to get out. The cost: years of hardship and loss of money.
They say hindsight is 20/20, so taking an honest look back at those dismissed waving red flags can only better guide your decision making of tomorrow.
Remember: Those flags are out there, so when you see RED… “Run, Forest, Run!”
