Why? Who? When? What? Where? How?

We know these words as the 5Ws and H.

To the Dose, these questions also reflect the many questions asked by my cousin by marriage.

She was a lovely, caring woman known to ask many questions… sometimes ad nauseum. And we loved her despite this inquisitive spirit. To her credit, it was this spirit that drove her to obtain a PhD degree at 54 years of age!

Recently I was with a group of women. One of them made a statement to which I jumped in with a comment.

Thinking I was providing a proper response, I actually had NOT! Unfortunately, my quick action to speak up took hold and led me down a wrong “path.” Had I asked the clarifying question “What specifically do you mean by that?” my reply would have been more appropriate.

Ever been there? Making an assumption without thought or context?

Questions are often needed before an answer or decision can be delivered. Case in point: a cross examination in a court room.

Maybe my relative was on the right track to ask the questions… though sometimes too many are just much too much!

Ask away, but please be mindful to ask responsibly… respectfully!
